All GIF Tools
This page is the index of every tool on GIF Cropper. Each one processes your GIF inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded, and each is free with no watermark and no sign-up.
Pick a tool by what you want to change. Under every name you will find what it does, the largest file it takes, what it gives back, and when it is the right one to reach for.
Which GIF Tool Do You Need?
Start from what is wrong with your GIF, not from the tool names. Find the line that matches your situation and open the tool next to it.
- The subject fills only one corner of the frame GIF Cropper
- The file is over a platform's upload limit GIF Compressor
- The picture is right, but the dimensions are too big or too small GIF Resizer
- There are three seconds of black screen before the action starts GIF Trimmer
- Two or more clips should play side by side in one file GIF Merger
- You want the animation back as a sequence of still images GIF to Frames
- You need an animated line of text and have no clip at all Typing Text GIF Maker
- You want a lighter file and would rather pick the colors and frame rate yourself GIF Optimizer
- A one-way animation should play backwards or bounce back and forth GIF Reverser
Crop & Trim
Cropping and trimming sound alike but change different things. Cropping cuts away the edges of the picture: the canvas gets smaller, while every frame and its timing stay as they were. Trimming cuts away time: you keep the stretch of frames between the start and end you pick, at the original size. Neither edit should change how long each remaining frame is shown, and neither does here.
-
GIF Cropper
Cut out any part of the frame by dragging a box or typing pixels, or crop to Discord, Slack, X and Instagram sizes. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a cropped GIF.
Use it when the subject fills only part of the frame, or a platform wants a fixed shape.
-
GIF Trimmer
Keep one section of a GIF by seconds or frame numbers. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a GIF with the original frame delays, loop count and size.
Use it when a clip has a slow start or an extra ending, and the picture size should stay as it is.
Resize & Optimize
Changing the size and cutting the file weight are separate trade-offs. Resizing recalculates every pixel to fit new dimensions, so the whole picture gets smaller or larger. Compressing and optimizing work on the palette, the frame rate and duplicate frames; the Compressor also scales the picture down when colors alone miss the target. If you need a set size and a size limit, resize first, then compress.
-
GIF Resizer
Scale the whole animation by pixels, percent or preset. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a GIF up to 4096 px on a side, with every frame and delay kept.
Use it when the picture is right but the dimensions are wrong, such as an emoji, avatar or email slot.
-
GIF Compressor
Shrink a GIF to a target such as Discord's 20 MB, email's 10 MB or your own number. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a smaller GIF, or tells you the smallest size it could reach.
Use it when a file is over a platform's size limit and you only need it under the number.
-
GIF Optimizer
Lower the colors, frame rate or size by hand and compare before and after with a slider. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a lighter GIF.
Use it when you want to step through the trade-off between quality and size yourself, one palette setting at a time.
Convert & Create
These tools make something new rather than repair the file you have. Merging puts several clips on one canvas, reversing plays the frames backwards or as a ping-pong loop, the typing maker builds an animation from text alone, and GIF to Frames splits an animation into still images. The result is not always a GIF: frame export gives you a ZIP of PNG files and a list of delays.
-
GIF Merger
Combine 2 to 9 GIFs side by side, stacked, in a grid or as a collage. Each file can be up to 100 MB; the output is one GIF on a transparent or solid background.
Use it when several short clips should play together in one file, such as a before-and-after.
-
GIF Reverser
Play a GIF backwards or build a ping-pong loop. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB and exports a GIF with each frame's delay and the loop count kept.
Use it when the motion reads better in reverse, or a loop should bounce instead of jumping back to the start.
-
Typing Text GIF Maker
Type up to 1,000 characters, then set the speed, cursor, font and colors. No file needed; it exports a typewriter GIF up to 4096 px, transparent if you like.
Use it when you need an animated headline or caption from words alone, with no source clip.
-
GIF to Frames
Split a GIF into its frames and save each one as a PNG. Takes GIFs up to 100 MB; download a single frame, or a ZIP that includes a list of every frame's delay.
Use it when you need one frame as a cover image, or want the animation back as an image sequence.
Learn
This section holds explainer articles, not tools. They show how to get a better GIF before you open one of the tools above.
-
GPT Image 2.6 GIF Guide
A short guide to making GIFs with GPT Image 2.6 and then fixing their size and quality with the tools above. It is an article, not a tool, so nothing is uploaded or exported.
Use it when your GIF comes from an AI image model and needs cleaning up before you can post it.
What a GIF Keeps When You Process It
Every tool that opens a GIF first rebuilds each frame in full, so frames that store only the changed area never come out broken. What happens after that depends on the job.
- Timing kept. GIF Cropper, GIF Resizer, GIF Trimmer and GIF Reverser keep each frame's own delay and the loop count. The Trimmer keeps the frames you select, ping-pong mode adds the reversed frames, and GIF to Frames writes every delay into frames.txt.
- Timing changed on purpose. GIF Optimizer and GIF Compressor can lower the frame rate or merge duplicate frames while keeping the total running time. GIF Merger plays all clips on one shared clock.
- Pixels copied as they are. The Trimmer, the Reverser, a crop at its own size and GIF to Frames at 100%.
- Pixels recalculated. The Resizer, the Optimizer and Compressor when they scale, the Cropper when a platform preset changes the size, the Merger when it fits clips, and GIF to Frames at 75% or 50%.
One limit applies to all of them: a GIF frame holds at most 256 colors. If a rebuilt frame has more, its colors are mapped to a GIF palette, and the Trimmer tells you when that happened.
GIF Tool FAQ
Are these GIF tools free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no watermark on the result and no sign-up. There are no paid plans and no account to create, and the limits described on each tool page apply to everyone in the same way.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tools run in a current web browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or iOS. There is no app, extension or plugin to install. The page loads the code it needs, and that code processes your GIF inside the browser tab.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool processes your GIF locally in your browser, in a background worker on your own device. The file is not sent to a server, nothing is kept after you close the tab, and the result is saved straight to your downloads.
What is the maximum GIF size these tools accept?
Each tool takes GIFs up to 100 MB, and no tool exports more than 4096 pixels on a side. The places you post to are usually stricter: a Discord emoji must stay under 256 KB, a Slack emoji under 128 KB, X accepts up to 15 MB from a browser, and email often stops at 10 MB.
Which tool removes frames instead of adding them?
GIF Trimmer removes frames from the start and the end and leaves the rest untouched. GIF Optimizer can drop frames by lowering the frame rate or merging duplicates, and GIF Compressor removes frames only as a last step toward a size target. Ping-pong mode in GIF Reverser adds frames instead.
Can I use these tools on a phone?
Yes. They work in current mobile browsers such as Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. Choose a GIF from your photos or files, and the result downloads to your device. Very large GIFs need more memory, so a phone can be slower than a computer with the same file.
